TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 12 ACM Edition Watch Review
Allow us to take this opportunity to not just review a unique version of the TAG Heuer Monaco, but also to review the collection as a whole. The Monaco is one of TAG Heuer’s most famous watch families, sporting a cushion/square case which was originally debuted in 1969 – an important year for watch making, and an important year for Heuer. The Monaco watch gained fame when actor and driver Steven McQueen wore one in the 1970 race movie Le Mans. More recently, the Monaco was very prominently featured in the television show Breaking Bad. The watch was worn by the lead character Walter White (played by Bryan Cranston) in the last two seasons of the show.The Monaco is indeed a cultural icon, but is it also a good watch? That is a great question. It’s been hard to watch the bushfire crisis unfolding in Australia this month, but as you might already know, the global watch community isn’t one to sit idly by. To support the ongoing firefighting efforts and various wildlife rescue and rehabilitation programs, our friends at Melbourne-based Time & Tide Watches are leading the charge, having rallied nearly 20 luxury watch brands who have donated watches for a special auction, with all the proceeds being donated to five different charities: two rural fire services groups (the Country Fire Authority in Victoria and the Rural Fire Service of New South Wales), two wildlife rescue groups (Wildlife Victoria and the World Wildlife Fund), and the Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund, which was created specifically for the hard-hit southeast region of Victoria.Launched on the online auction platform Invaluable earlier this week, each lot in Watch & Act! has been listed without reserve and will run until 9am AEST on Friday the 3
