No Longer Made: JeanRichard Diverscope LPR Watch Review
The JeanRichard Diverscope LPR is a watch that is no longer made but I am going to review it anyway. Why? Well, I think there are a lot of modern timepieces produced over the last 20 years or so which are still floating around out there that don’t get enough attention from collectors. Attention on vintage watches is higher because of perceived collectibility and current trendiness, but I personally have very little interest in most of those antiques. I think one of the biggest differences between a watch produced in the last 20 years and ones produced 30 or more years ago is how those watches were intended to appeal to the market. Prior to the late 1990s wristwatches were produced for a larger audience, at a lower price. More recently as watches have become more about luxury and status communication, brands have had to up the quality, design, and sense of prestige in order to appeal to consumers. Hong Kong Event Invite: & Undone Watches 'When East Meets West' May 19, 2018
On Saturday May 19th, 2018 I (Ariel Adams of best watches) will be co-hosting an educational and social event in Hong Kong with Undone Watches. Comprised of luxury watch industry veterans, Undone is a fresh urban-focused watchmaker with very accessible pricing and a focus on traditional style and appeal-offering both quartz and mechanical products. The Undone founders and myself will participate in a discussion about the long-time cooperative nature between the “East” and “West” in regard to today’s timepiece industry. This will cover everything from how watches are produced to how they are collected and consumed.The best watches & Undone event will also sustain guests with entertainment and hospitality. Undone will be serving freshly prepared food and arrange artistic and technical stations to admire. There will also be a hands-on custom watchmaking experience which guests can participate in. I’m personally really looking forward to being there.
