Hublot UNICO All Carbon Watch Hands-On
“Oh, hello carbon fiber. Yeah, I haven’t seen you in a while. I know you used to hang out here a lot, but over the last few years ceramic has been stealing a lot of the attention. We didn’t always get along when you were popular, but you did have your moments.” This carbon fiber-based Hublot watch almost feels like a blast from the rather recent past. With an almost all-carbon fiber case and bezel, there is a reason this watch is named the Hublot UNICO All Carbon.Carbon fiber was really starting to get overdone a few years ago when it started showing up all over the place. The worst was the legions of cheap watches with fake carbon fiber dials – yuck! The watch industry really put carbon fiber on the backburner as a material lately. Like I said, materials such as ceramic and titanium started to get so much more popular, and were so versatile, that carbon fiber just didn’t get as much attention from designers.
Zenith Defy Classic Range Rover Special Edition Watch
Cars and watches have often gone hand-in-hand. Many of the big boy brands on both sides release models collaborating with each other, as they’re often appealing to enthusiasts cut from the same cloth and excited by the same items. Some watch brands have entire collections dedicated to car collaborations. Zenith has recently released two low-key El Primero watches with an interesting brand, Land Rover. While I don’t feel the El Primero Range Rover got it’s fair shake in the market, it apparently did well because Zenith teamed up with the “Luxury Sport SUV” for a second El Primero a year later, and now again for a third time – this go-around with Zenith’s more recent collection, the Defy Classic, to produce the Zenith Defy Classic Range Rover Special Edition watch. The watch will be a super limited run, and celebrate the release of the new Range Rover Evoque. As is pretty standard in the Defy collection, the watch utilizes a brushed titanium case.
