Jaquet Droz Launches New Midsize Grande Seconde Quantieme With Seven New 41 mm VariantsThe Grande Seconde style is something of a hallmark for Jaquet Droz, and this week the brand announced it will further expand this signature line with seven new models in the Grande Seconde Quantieme range, sized at 41 mm. These new 41 mm variants are available in a variety of different case materials, with four models cased in rose gold while the remaining three are finished in stainless steel. The case design itself maintains the rounded, classical dress form found in the core line, but has been slimmed down significantly to 12.1 mm thick along with the smaller diameter for a more elegant profile. The dials of these seven new models all follow the traditional Grande Seconde Quantieme aesthetic, with a small off center subdial at 12 o’clock for hours and minutes paired with a larger 6 o’clock subdial with a pointer date nested inside running seconds. And one brand that has been successfully capitalizing on this phenomenon is Timex. After hits like the Q and Marlin, Timex is back with another piece that draws inspiration from the 1970s. This is the new Q Timex 1978 Reissue.Judging from its name, the Q Timex 1978 appears to have been inspired by a watch that Timex made in the late 1970s. Unlike the Q Timex that you are familiar with, this new model has a cushion-shaped case and short but prominent lugs. The watch comes with a plain black strap with quick-release springbars. If that's not to your liking, you'll be happy to know that lug width is a thoughtful 20mm, which means plenty of third-party strap options.
