Voutilainen VINGT-8 Watch Hands-On
One of the ongoing “current collection” models from star independent watchmaker Kari Voutilianen that we haven’t covered much yet is his more basic VINGT-8 timepiece collection. This is Kari’s three-hand watch with a subsidiary seconds dial that is about thematically offering a look of vintage pocket watch dials (that often had this same layout). The Voutilainen VINGT-8 watch is often customized for the client or simply rendered in special ways as Voutilainen and his team like to experiment with colors, textures, and styles.The most notable unique element on this particular version of the Voutilainen VINGT-8 are the two-tone hands. It is not totally unique, but a very rare model. Produced in-house, the hands on this particular version are stunning, offering the look of blued-steel for the rings and connection points, as well as orange for the shafts and arrows. 4N Watch Hands-On
When I first debuted the 4N watch it was much ballyhooed. This was about a year ago when piece like this were hot. Actually, it was more than a year ago. Even then the brand was over a year away from having a final product. Now they are almost at a final product but not quite yet. The actual name of the watch is the 4N MVT01/D01/42. That name is moronically absurd for anything but a reference number. So until a proper name is conceived I will just call it the “4N watch.”This is a prototype and unfortunately it was just one part away from working properly! So I couldn’t take a video of the piece in action. Though I have confidence about the final movement because 4N is working with the super esteemed Renaud & Papi workshop to make the 4N watch work as intended.
