NEWS WATCHES

Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight Dive Watch
In a move that brings an even more conservative touch to the Black Bay collection, Tudor has just announced the release of the Tudor Black Bay Fifty-Eight, featuring a 39mm case size. Rather than bombard us with a slew of new colors, Tudor seems to be a little more strategic with the Black Bay this year and the Black Bay GMT announced earlier today tops off the newest additions to the line-up. This is an especially welcome addition, since Tudor hasn’t stepped away from the Black Bay’s typical 41mm case size outside of the bezel-less offerings introduced a couple of years ago. The result is a watch with real vintage appeal and a case size we should see more brands experimenting with very soon.SpecificationsBrand: TudorModel: Black Bay Fifty-Eight Ref. 79030NDimensions: 39mm diameter x 11.9mm thicknessCase Material: Steel case with polished and satin finishCrystal/Lens: Domed sapphire crystalMovement: Manufacture Calibre MT5402 (COSC)Frequency: 4HzPower Reserve: 70 hoursStrap

No, it isn’t that, and regular best watches fans know how excited I get each time we review a new Casio G-Shock. It really isn’t about price but rather where the bar is set. Lower-priced watches often have to cut corners where more expensive watches can afford to use the best materials, components, and manufacturing processes. Being so accustomed to these high-brow watches, I simply find it difficult to get excited about anything that is produced to be more affordable. Mostly, but not always.I became attached to the AVI-8 Flyboy the first time I saw it (in Hong Kong actually), and immediately felt that it was a worthy watch to wear. I don’t wear it all the time of course (I’m too busy wearing lots of other wa
