NEWS WATCHES

Hands-On: Seiko Prospex Seigaiha SLA053 & SLA059 USA Edition Watches
Today, we look at two special versions of the higher-end Seiko Prospex SLAXXX diver’s watches that are designated as exclusive models for the United States. Historically, it was much more common for there to be Seiko watches limited to just the Japanese domestic market - but at times, Seiko’s American branch gets to have some exclusive products of its own. The Seiko Prospex SLA053 and SLA059 are given the “Seigaiha” moniker because of their traditional Japanese texture, which, according to Seiko, translates to “blue ocean waves.” You see this repeating wave-style pattern from time to time in Japanese crafts. The pattern is used on the dial of the two watches, which render them in fitting blue (SLA053) or in burgundy red (the SLA059).The watches also come with matching blue or burgundy red and steel seigaiha cuff links. In the past, it was actually common to find wristwatches sold with matching cuff links, as you can still find today from brands such
Evisu Jeans Of Japan Adds Swiss Watches To Its Fashionable Line Up
You typically see fashion designers from Europe use the Japanese to make their watches (especially the movements). Evisu has turned the tables on this, and is a Japanese designer that is using the Swiss to make their new lines of watches, which look pretty cool from a fashion perspective.Evisu is mainly a clothes and shoes designer who started in the denim industry in 1991, based in Osaka, Japan. The name Evisu is based on “Evis” which is a name for the Buddhist god of prosperity; a very Asian style manner of naming a company if I may add. Good that they were optimistic from the start. Today Evisu items are clearly identified by their “Daicock” logo which is actually supposed to represent a drawing of a seagull in flight.
