Fortis Unveils Flieger F-39 And F-41 Pilot Watch Models
In August 2020, tool watch specialist Fortis announced the first in a series of dramatic reshaping efforts aimed at its cornerstone Flieger pilot watch line. That first watch, the Flieger F-43 Bicompax, combined a mix of classic German pilot watch cues with diver elements, sharp angles, and a handful of unique character touches for a distinctive, utilitarian design. For the month of September, Fortis is expanding this revamped Flieger series with a pair of three hand pilots sized at 39mm and 41mm. With a simpler overall layout, the new Fortis Flieger F-39 and Fortis Flieger F-41 make a few tweaks to the F-43 Bicompax formula and appear to let the character flourishes of the base design shine through more clearly.As the names would suggest, the stainless steel cases of the Fortis Flieger F-39 and Flieger F-41 are sized at 39mm and 41mm, respectively. The Early 1990s brought with it the Breitling Aerospace watch line. It was an impressive and technical looking watch that broke the mold by placing a quartz movement in what was typically a mechanical watch. To be fair, the watch had a robust feature set and contained not just any quartz, but a Breitling “Super Quartz” that was accurate to within 5 seconds a years.
