Casio Edifice EQWT720DC-1A Watch Review
It appears to me as though Japanese watch makers Citizen and?Casio are in a fight. Both of them are doing appreciably better than competitor Seiko, and they are also both pushing forward with highly multi-functional analog watches. These are developments based on years of success with multi-function digital watches. I get the appeal of digital watches that offer a range of features, but their analog counterparts are a mixed bag.On the one hand, a proof of concept that “all these features can be used via a purely analog display” is a good thing. That these watches work with their many motorized hands is impressive. On paper, multi-function quartz movement-based analog watches sound fantastic. In practice they are often too complicated to be picked up and simply played with. Their appeal is in using a few basic features and playing with the rest from time to time… while having a complex-looking timepiece that looks cool. This is the hallmark of the Casio Edifice collect
Breitling Superocean Heritage Chronograph Limited Edition 125th Anniversary Watch
Why does Breitling need to continually tease me? I have really liked the Superocean Heritage line of watch every since they came out a few years ago, and they just keep upping the ante with watches that I want. Well here are the second line of chronograph watches for the collection. The first were simply the Superocean Heritage Chronograph watches with Valjoux 7750 movements, but these limited edition models have a sweet bi-compax subdial array which is infinitely more classic and “heritage” in style. Instead of using a Valjoux 7750 automatic movement, the watches uses a Breitling Caliber 23, which is a Valjoux 7753 automatic mechanical movement. Instead of a 12 hour chronograph, it is a 30 minute chronograph, and the date is placed in a nice little window at 6 o’clock.
