NEWS WATCHES

BEST FROM: & Friends December 31, 2017
A very happy New Year! We have come to the end of a month and here’s a look back at the most popular articles of the past month here at best watches as well as some other interesting articles from around the web. This month, Japanese watches continue to feature strongly as the Seiko Presage Blue Enamel SPB069 Limited Edition and the Epson Trume were two of the most read articles. In addition, there was also a lot of interest with regards to watch brands selling directly to customers on the Internet. From around the web, we take a closer look at watches that rely on the theory of resonance to improve their chronometric performance. This is a rare and often misunderstood breed of watches that deserves greater appreciation. Finally, we check in with six watch experts and ask them what watch under $1,000 they would recommend.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak 41mm Selfwinding & Chronograph Watches Hands-On
I have discussed how 2012 is the 40th anniversary of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch. It was easy to anticipate that the brand from Le Brassus would focus on the Royal Oak and release a bevy of pieces both looking forward and to the collection’s past. They certainly did. There is nothing extremely novel, and I believe that for as long as we can imagine, Audemars Piguet will honor the core look of the Gerald Genta designed classic. One of the most important pieces for the 40th anniversary celebration is the Royal Oak in a newer, larger 41mm wide case. The previous “Jumbo” model was 39mm wide. Even though there is actually a new Jumbo for 2012 – which is a redo of the original Jumbo – this 41mm wide Royal Oak set is the real jumbo for the year. It further will come in both three-hand and chronograph versions for 2012.
