Bremont Supermarine 500 Watch: First Diver For Young Brand
Emerging British luxury watch maker Bremont recently announced their first diver's watch. This is an important occasion for each 'active' watch brand. Having at least one solid diving watch is a positional and status signifier. Sort of like saying that the company is not serious about its theme unless it has a functional diving watch. Though the brand is based in England, all watches are produced in their atelier in Biel-Bienne Switzerland. While I feel that some of the current Bremont watches are bland looking (though pleasing and functional), the new Supermarine 500 does not come across that way. Sometimes you want a diving watch to be more conservative looking and focus on doing its job well rather than being too avant garde. That is why diving watches are important - the watch lover community evaluates them to see how well a given watch maker is able to represent the genre.
10 Things In Watches We Want To See More Of, And Less Of In 2017
With 2016 (thankfully) behind us, best watches would like to poke its nose into 2017, and offer the watch industry a few suggestions on things we would like to see more of in the new year, and also things we’d like to see less of.I’ll mention that our editorial team spent a lot of time thinking about how to best sum up 2016, and how to look forward at 2017. Myself and others on team best watches have written at length about the current (not amazing) state of the watch industry over the course of the year, and will continue to do so. To be frank, discussing our feelings and analysis about the health of the watch industry is an ongoing effort, and one article at the end year simply won’t cut it. I will, however, say just one thing about the watch industry, because I believe it is too easy to misunderstand what is going on with all the perceived doom and gloom.
